Probation & Parole

In most states, the paroling authority rests in the judiciary. In Hawaiʻi, it rests in the executive branch under the Department of Public Safety in the Hawaiʻi Paroling Authority (HPA). HPA decisions are not subject to Department of Public Safety approval.
