Customizations

Customization is the ability to personalize the behind the scenes activity in Word. Adjusting these preset settings allows a more efficient use of Word.

Quick Access Toolbar

You can alter the Quick Access Toolbar (QAT) menu by clicking on the drop-down icon on the right side of the menu.

Recommended Commands

  • AutoText
  • Inspect document (removes metadata from your document)
  • Save
  • Open
  • Navigation Pane
  • New Blank Document
  • Style Inspector
  • Style (shows you what style is applied to the text your cursor is in)

Word Options

Options may not be set to your liking or usefulness. In MS Office 365 go to File -> Options.

Below are some options you may want to alter:

Proofing

You may want to alter Word's native AutoCorrect options as well as turning off the ordinal with superscript option. Go to File -> Options -> Proofing -> AutoCorrect Options -> AutoFormat.
