Department of Facility Maintenance
Section 6-903. Powers, Duties and Functions --
The chief engineer shall:
(a) Maintain public buildings and their adjoining parking facilities, except as otherwise provided by law.
(b) Maintain public streets, roads, bridges and walkways, and drainage and flood control systems.
(c) Install and maintain street lighting systems.
(d) Perform such other duties as may be required by law.

Department of Information Technology
The department provides information technology services to the mayor and City agencies to enable them to serve the public in a cost-effective and efficient manner. It also provides computer services to other governmental and non-governmental agencies doing business with the City.
Department of Parks and Recreation
Pursuant to and by virtue of the authority set forth in Section 4-105 Revised Charter of Honolulu, the Director of Parks and Recreation of the City and County of Honolulu, subject to the approval of the Mayor of the City and County of Honolulu, is authorized to promulgate, amend or repeal rules and regulations affecting the public as are necessary to the performance of the function of the department.

Department of Planning and Permitting (DPP)
The Department of Planning and Permitting (DPP) is responsible for the City and County of Honolulu’s long-range planning, community planning efforts, administration and enforcement of ordinances and regulations governing the development and use of land, various codes pertaining to the construction of buildings, and City standards and regulations pertaining to infrastructure requirements.
Department of the Medical Examiner
Revised Charter Section 6-1303. Powers, Duties and Functions --
The medical examiner shall:
(a) Perform medical investigation services to establish the cause of any unattended death in the city in order to protect the rights of individuals and contribute legal evidence to the system of justice.
(b) Exercise the power vested in the coroner and coroner's physician of the city by law, where not in conflict with the provisions of this chapter of the charter.
(c) Perform such other duties as may be required by law.
The City Charter of the City and County of Honolulu (City) designates the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) as the fire protection agency for the City. The HFD provides fire fighting, rescue, emergency medical, and hazardous materials response for the island of Oahu, an area of 604 square miles.
