Guide to the Law Library at UH Manoa : Indigenous Lands Acknowledgement

A guide to the University of Hawaii Law Library.

Indigenous Lands Acknowledgement

The University of Hawaiʻi School of Law Library is located in the verdant Mānoa Valley, in the ahupuaʻa of Waikīkī, in the moku of Kona, on the mokupuni of Oʻahu, in the pae ʻāina of Hawaiʻi, in the center of Moananuiākea.

We perpetuate Hawaiian terms for these land divisions in order to acknowledge and honor lineages of reciprocity with and stewardship by kanaka that gave rise to generations of sustainability, self-sufficiency, and resilience. This genealogy guides our kuleana to Hawaiʻi, the Pacific, Asia, and the world.
