The Basics

Components of the Tennessee Bar Exam (UBE):

The Multistate Bar Examination (MBE) 50%

The Mulitistate Essay Examination (MEE) 30%

The Multistate Performance Test (MPT) 20%

Reciprocity:

Tennessee is a UBE jurisdiction and excepts UBE scores up to 3 years old or up to 5 years old if the applicant has been primarily engaged in the active practice of law for three of the five years immediately preceding the date upon which their application is filed. In addition, Tennessee allows admission to their bar for an attorney from any U.S. jurisdiction who has been primarily engaged in the active practice of law for three of the five years immediately preceding the date upon which the application is filed.
