The Basics

Components of the West Virginia Bar Exam (UBE):

The Multistate Bar Examination (MBE) 50%

The Mulitistate Essay Examination (MEE) 30%

The Multistate Performance Test (MPT) 20%

Reciprocity:

West Virginia is a UBE jurisdiction and excepts UBE scores up to 3 years old. In addition, West Virginia considers the following jurisdictions reciprocal and an attorney from a qualifying jurisdiction may be admitted on motion if, among other things, the attorney has been engaged in the active practice of law for five of the seven years preceding their application:

Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, South Dakota, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin.
