The Basics

Components of the Vermont Bar Exam (UBE):

The Multistate Bar Examination (MBE) 50%

The Mulitistate Essay Examination (MEE) 30%

The Multistate Performance Test (MPT) 20%

Reciprocity:

Vermont is a UBE jurisdiction and excepts UBE scores up to 3 years old and up to 5 years old if the applicant has been actively engaged in the practice of law for at least two years. In addition, Vermont allows an attorney from any U.S. jurisdiction to be admitted on motion if, among other things, the attorney has been actively engaged in the practice of law for no less than five of the 10 years immediately preceding the filing of the application.
